THE WEIGHT OF DREAMS
I see dreams as a vortex of memories layers built up from childhood, including emotional experiences and even small traumas. Sometimes these come from things we saw when we were young, like intense or disturbing images. Even if we don’t clearly remember the story or details, the feeling or image can stay deep inside us and keep replaying. This piece mainly talks about fear, stress, and anxiety. But at the same time, there is still a sense of light inside something warm, like sunlight. Sometimes this light appears in dreams, even if everything else feels dark. The figure in the center represents ourselves. It reflects how we choose to face these emotions whether we try to find a way out, move against the current, escape, or continue sinking deeper into the dream.
In this work, dreams feel almost black and white, but our choices are what shape the experience. I used mixed materials like mirrors and sand. The mirrors reflect the viewer, so people can see themselves in the work almost like facing their own inner fears or current emotional state. The sand adds a tactile, layered texture, making the surface feel physical and real.
